Studies have shown that in the past year COVID-19 has caused a doubling of the number of Bangladeshi people living in poverty, setting back much of the progress that has been made in the past decade.
For more than 25 years, Symbiosis has been empowering the most vulnerable and poorest people of Bangladesh to learn, save and grow together as they overcome the causes of poverty in their communities.
Nearly 50% of our funding comes from generous individuals like you and we are incredibly grateful for your dedication to our work in Bangladesh. As a result, approximately 20,000 community members have been much better placed to withstand the shocks brought by COVID-19. However many of their neighbours remain in need.
We know that the Symbiosis group model works and will play a crucial role in helping communities rise together out of this pandemic. This end of financial year your support is valued more than ever as we continue our existing programs and create capacity to extend our activities in the years to come.
We know many of you have recently made a donation to the Symbiosis Annual Appeal – thank you for getting us halfway there! If you haven’t had a chance to give yet, a reminder that every dollar is currently being matched by some of our anonymous hero donors.
Be sure to share your passion for our work with friends, acquaintances, work colleagues or others who are as keen to be a part of the journey to empowering the poor of Bangladesh in 2021 and the years to come.
Thank you for being a part of our long term vision for a better life for those we work with in Bangladesh.
P.S. If you missed our Annual Online Breakfast on the 1st of May, see two updates below, direct from the team on the ground in Bangladesh.
